The company was established in Montebelluna in 1967, specialising in moulds. From 1996 to 2004 it belonged to the Nike group and it was during this time that it became one of the leading manufacturers of top-of-the-range football boot components. In 2004 the company was acquired by Aksia Group and in 2007 it began its expansion into the carbon composites sector, becoming one of the top carbon specialists in Europe and changing its name to Novation Tech. In 2007 it built the first carbon fibre backrest for a sports car using state-of-the-art production technologies.
As the next stage in its strategic plan, in 2011 it purchased a production facility in Hungary, 200 km from Budapest, and Novation Tech HU Kft was born.
In May 2017, Keyhaven Capital Partners and the management acquired 100% of Novation Tech, giving the Italian manufacturer a further boost to enable it to leverage its technical know-how, double its production facilities in Hungary and enlarge the Italian factory.
With years of experience in advanced composite materials behind it, in 2018 Novation Tech decided to expand with its very own patent into the aerospace industry, where excellence is demanded to ensure the very best quality and the highest possible performance.
To achieve continued expansion, growth and risk diversification, in 2019 Novation Tech began work on a new production facility in Labin, Croatia, which officially became operative in 2020 under the name Novation Tech Istria d.o.o..
In March 2021, Novation Tech decided to broaden its technological offering and created a totally integrated department which produces componentry in a variety of materials using four different 3D printing technologies.
By mid-2022, the company expanded into Italy, initiating the restructuring of two manufacturing plants in Trevignano (TV), located just a few kilometres from the headquarters, with full operational capacity expected by January 2024. The moulding department was relocated to this site, and several production units originally based in Montebelluna (such as plotter cutting, lamination, extraction, quality gate, milling, assembly, gluing, painting, and finished goods) were replicated. An automation hub specialising in robotics was established, featuring some of the most advanced robots in the field of gluing, sanding, and polishing. Additionally, an automated rail-based painting system was installed.
In line with the aim of reducing energy consumption and limiting the company’s carbon footprint, in 2023 the organisation made a significant investment to implement photovoltaic systems on the roof and canopy at the Montebelluna headquarters, with a peak capacity of 824.51 kWp. At the Trevignano plants, the existing system was integrated with a new installation of 515.88 kWp, bringing the total capacity to 49.68 kWp. A similar investment was undertaken at the Hungarian plant, where a 450 kWp system was installed between 2023 and early 2024, resulting in a total capacity of 1,840.07 kWp across the Novation Tech group.
In August 2023, a highly strategic and pivotal step was taken towards corporate growth: the acquisition of an 85% stake in CiTre Color Srl, an Opitergine based company specialising in high-quality painting of products made from carbon fibre and plastic. This marked the first step in external expansion following years of consistent, double-digit internal growth, enabling Novation Tech Group to surpass the €100 million revenue target as early as 2023.
In the same year, Novation Tech further expanded its manufacturing capacity through the establishment of a new plant in Monastir, Tunisia. This investment, completed in 2025 and officially operational from 2026, represents a significant move to strengthen production capabilities and enhance the company’s international presence, allowing it to better meet the growing demands of the global market.
The continuous drive for improvement and innovation, characteristic of the competitive world, combined with the specialised expertise rooted in the region’s industrial fabric, are among the fundamental elements of Novation Tech’s operational ethos. Today, the company ranks among the leading European firms in the processing of high-tech composite materials, employing over 1,400 personnel across five operational sites.
One of the most stimulating new challenges for the organisation’s future is the adoption of a fresh corporate approach centred on sustainability. It is of paramount importance to implement sustainable practices across all areas of the business in order to address environmental issues and to generate a positive impact on society and future generations. Sustainability is not merely an ethical obligation but also presents an opportunity for innovation, growth, and long term success. The overarching goal is to foster positive change throughout the organisation, from the supply chain to the communities in which it operates.
